Release time:2024-12-06click:0

Large slab ceramic tiles have become increasingly popular in recent years. Internationally, there are numerous large-scale ceramic tile displays at the Italian Bologna Exhibition, Milan Design Week, and the American Stone and Ceramics Exhibition, as well as the domestic Guangzhou Design Week, Foshan Ceramics Expo, and Tanzhou Ceramics Exhibition.

Major ceramic tile brands have also launched large-sized ceramic tiles, hoping to break through the aesthetic fatigue caused by traditional small-sized ceramic tiles. Large-size ceramic tiles are not only simple to lay and have fewer gaps to reduce bacterial growth, but also have more advantages in visual effects than traditional small ceramic tiles. They are deeply loved by consumers and are becoming more and more popular in the market.

Large-sized ceramic tiles have so many advantages, but why are their applications not so popular? The most important reason is that the public does not quite understand how to lay these large-sized ceramic tiles.

How to lay large-sized ceramic tiles? How to lay it to show its unique temperament?

Today, we will learn together the professional knowledge of laying large-sized ceramic tiles.

1. Preparation

First of all, we need to prepare tile adhesive, three-hole glass nozzle, serrated plaster, dust spoon, rubber hammer, ruler, leveling pliers set, and cleaning rag.

2. Base surface treatment and ground treatment

Remove floating ash, oil and other stains from the base layer to avoid affecting the adhesion of the tile adhesive. The interior of the base surface must be kept flat. Uneven or rough surfaces can be smoothed with cement mortar. At the same time, the construction base surface must be fully moistened to prevent hollowing.

3. Prepare tile adhesive

Mix tile glue and water at a ratio of 4:1, stir with a gray spoon until smooth and even, with no obvious lumps or pasty agglomerations. Let the stirred slurry stand for 5-10 minutes and then stir for 1-2 minutes. Ready to use in minutes.

4. Apply tile adhesive

Spread a layer of tile adhesive evenly on the ground to form a semi-dry layer, and then use tile adhesive to fill in the uneven areas on the surface with a thickness of about 0.5CM; under appropriate conditions, the tile adhesive can be evenly applied to the tiles at the same time On the back, the tile glue is required to be applied fully.

When back-coating ceramic tiles, you need to use a toothed plasterer to spread the tile adhesive evenly into a tooth shape. Note that when scraping glue, the base surface and the large plate must be scraped in the same direction to facilitate air discharge and avoid cracking and falling off caused by hollowing of the tile glue.

5. Moving and paving

Use a three-hole glass suction tool to lift the large slab horizontally and move it to the construction position, and place it on the base surface where the tile glue has been laid. At least 2 workers are required to carry it; for larger areas, use a mobile frame to carry it.

6. Flatten and compress

Lay the ceramic tiles flatly on the base layer. Use a rubber mallet to lay the ceramic tiles firmly and flatly to facilitate the discharge of air bubbles. Tap the brick surface lightly to allow the bottom of the bricks to fully absorb the slurry to avoid hollowing. Use a wooden hammer to flatten the tile surface and measure with a ruler to ensure that the tiles are laid levelly.

7. Leveling treatment

Insert the leveler base every 60cm around the edge of the positioned large board. After checking the leveling, insert the leveling wedge and clamp the leveler. Adjust the surface flatness of the adjacent large boards and adjust the gap between the large boards to 2mm. left and right for subsequent sealant treatment.

8. Empty drum inspection

One hour after paving, you can use a rubber hammer to tap the brick surface to check whether there is hollowing. If you hear a "hollow" sound from the floor tiles, you must try to re-lay them. Caulking construction can be carried out 24 hours after the ceramic tiles are laid.

9. Brick surface cleaning

24 hours after the paving is completed, caulking can be carried out. The caulking should be filled with flexible or elastic materials. After the grout has cured, use a cleaning wipe to clean off excess grout to keep the tile surface clean.
